Club Officers

President - Mike Bechard

Michael is the son of Alca Bechard, deceased, and Denis Bechard, a lifetime member of Le Club Calumet. Mike was raised in Hallowell, attended Hall-Dale High School. After high school he graduated from Husson College (University) with a bachelor's in accounting. Mike currently works as a Mortgage Loan Officer for CMG Home Loans and has been in banking field since 1995.

In 1998 Mike married Karen Tobey Bechard, who is also a member. They currently they live in Pittston and have an adult daughter who lives in Yarmouth with her Fiancé.

Mike has been a volunteer with youth programs for the past 12 years. He was on the Gardiner Cal Ripken baseball board for 5 years and served as President the last year. He served as the President of the Capital Area Babe Ruth League for four years, and has been on that board for 8 years.

For the past 6 years Mike has been on the board for Capital Area Recreation Association, which is the organization that oversees the fields on the Piggery Rd, and was the Treasurer for the past 4 years.

Mike also served on the Gardiner School Board for 6 years.

Mike has been a member of Le Club Calumet since January 2017. He currently serves as the clubs current President. In the past he volunteered for Le Festival de la Bastille before he was a member, and other club functions since becoming a member. Mike is running for President in hopes to possibly get the younger members to participate in the running of the club. Mike has learned and continues to receive guidance from the older members in which he hopes to help him to keep the club a great place for older and younger members.

1st Vice President - Joyce Levesque

Joyce is the daughter of Hector and Lorraine (Boucher) Levesque.  Joyce a son, Jamie who is also a member.  Joyce was raised in Augusta and attended the Augusta schools.  Joyce has been a member of the Club since 2012.

Joyce has been employed by the Finance Authority of Maine for the past

32 years as the Systems Administrator.  Joyce holds two Bachelors'

Degrees, one in Business Administration and one in Information Technology from the University of Maine.

Joyce has been very active in the Club, as the Club's 2nd Vice President, 1st Vice President this past year, a member of the nominating committee for several years, co-chair of various functions and events, helping with decorating of our Club at Christmas, and serving in the kitchen for various Club suppers and functions.  Joyce has been the Mistress of Ceremonies for the Installation of Officers for several years.

2nd Vice President - Mike Charest

Mike is the son of Maurice and Cecile Charest.  Mike graduated from Cony High School in 1983.  He has been a Club member since 2010.  Mike and his wife Karen have been married for over 30 years.  Mike has two children, Meagan Woodman and Matthew Charest.  Both are Club Members.

Mike has been employed by the Greater Augusta Utility District for the past 11 years.  Prior to that, he worked for the Augusta Public Works for 10 years.

Mike has been active in the Club by volunteering for Club events and decorating the Ballroom and Members' Lounge for Christmas for the past several years.

Mike served as Sergeant-At-Arms for 2021 & 2022.

Secretary - Michele Lane

Michele is the daughter of Rita (Gaudreau) Lagasse, deceased, and Roland Lagasse, who is a longstanding member and who volunteers his time with the club's Genealogy Group. Michele has a daughter, Amber Archer, who is also a club member, and she has three amazing grandsons: Carter, Brentley, and Emerson. Michele has three siblings, one of which, Melissa McLellan, is also a Club member.

Michele graduated from Lawrence High School in Fairfield in 1985, obtained her bachelor's degree in Mental Health and Human Services and is a Licensed Social Worker. Michele has worked for the State of Maine for 28 years and currently oversees the Complex Case Unit (CCU) at DHHS where they assist individuals with disabilities throughout the state to resolve complex healthcare, financial and placement issues. Prior to CCU, Michele was a Guardian Representative at Adult Protective Services for adults who lack capacity.

Michele has been a proud member of Le Club Calumet since May 2009. She was Secretary for the club in 2022 and was the Volunteer Coordinator for the club for 3 years; 2019 to 2021. Michele has volunteered for many years at club events such as Sugar Shack, Thanksgiving dinner, Le Festival de la Bastille, Children's Christmas party, Ham and Turkey Raffles, Reverse Drawing, Casino nights, worked in the kitchen and sold tickets at events among other volunteer opportunities. Michele was on the committee for the Food Truck Friday events, coordinated event information online to promote the event and sold 50/50 tickets. Michele worked hard over the last few years to promote volunteering within the club.

Treasurer - Peggy Cummings

Peggy Cummings is the daughter of the late Edna & Nelson Doyon, who were both active members of the club.  She is a widow and a mother of two wonderful young men; Eric & Brandon (also members of Le Calumet Club).

Peggy is a proud "Mimi" to Carver & Stella Cummings (5th generation descendants of one of the clubs founding fathers).

Peggy has previously served as Le Club Calumet treasurer for 3 years from 2018 through 2020.  She was President of the local Little League and Babe Ruth organizations and the Cony All Sports Boosters program, as well as numerous other local organizations over her career.  She served as assistant treasurer of the "Festival De La Bastille" and was the Sports Committee chairperson for several years.

Peggy retired from CMP in 2017 after 38 years of service.  She was a manager and was responsible for her department's budget, which included revenues of over $12 million; and expenses of almost $4 million annually.  Peggy is confident that her prior experiences, computer skills & knowledge can and will help Le Club Calumet continue to be a leader in the community, and promoter of the French heritage.

Financial Secretary - Ray Laliberte

Ray lives in Augusta and attended Cony High School, graduating in 1973.

Ray has two adult children, Marc 30 who lives in Boston, Massachusetts and a daughter, Meredith 24 a teacher in Rockland, Maine. Meredith became a member in 2019.

Ray retired in 2016 after working for AMHI and Riverview Psychiatric Centers as a CAN for eight years and continuing 19 more years as an RN.

Since his retirement, Ray has been playing golf, traveling and candlepin bowling during the winter.

As a member a Club member, Ray has volunteered to work in the kitchen as part of "Nellies Crew".  Ray also worked part time as a Club Bartender for over 12 years.  Ray was president of the Snowmobile Club for two years in the early '80's, Sergeant-at-Arms in 2016 and 2017, 1st Vice President in 2018 and served on the Advisory Committee in 2021.  Ray also was Financial Secretary in 2022.
